Get to know Benji

Founder, Certified Dog Behaviorist

Since Benji was a baby, he was surrounded by dogs. His older brothers had Rottweilers, Great Danes, and Huskies. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado, having dogs around was always a normal thing in the Tompkins household. When he found Maggie, a sweet Golden Retriever at age 11, he knew his life would be associated with dogs in a profound way. With Maggie, Benji’s fascination with canine loyalty, intelligence, and their amazing ability to learn and grow with their humans, began.

After graduating College with a Bachelor of Arts from Belhaven University he started a corporate career in the restaurant industry as Front of House and Kitchen Manager. During that time he honed his communication skills and learned practically how crucial it is to convey your message clearly.

Eventually returning to school, he attained a certification in animal behavior. His vast experience can be attributed to time spent learning from various senior trainers as well as, Dr. Ian Dunbar, Robert Cabral, Robbie Estille, Andrea Arden and Brian McMillan.

His one passion and mission is to educate as many people as possible about Dog Behavior so that they have the skills to teach and grow with a dog that brings them the same joy and fulfillment that all of his dogs have given him.
